Looking After Someone?

Young Carers LogoA young carer is a young person who looks after someone with an illness or disability, learning difficulty, a mental health problem or misusing drugs/alcohol.  If this is you, don't worry, you are not alone - there are approximately a half-million young carers in the UK.

The Reading Young Carers Project is a place for 5-19 year old young-carers to come and spend a few hours each week doing something for themselves!  This includes:

  • Talking to other young-carers
  • Spending time with people your own age
  • Learning new things
  • Someone to talk to
  • Trips
  • Sport
  • Cooking

Family logoThe sessions are held at Fairview Youth Club.  There are three age groups - 5 1/2 - 9, 9-12 and 12-19, and the sessions are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  You can also get help with transport to get there and back.
